Today, between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., IS will be implementing network upgrades. During the maintenance window, on campus users may experience intermittent disruptions of the wired and wireless networks, the phone system, and printing capabilities.

Our infrastructure team targets a six year refresh cycle for not only the equipment supporting our network, but also the architecture through which it is organized. These refresh efforts are distributed so that every year, a different aspect or area is refreshed. Earlier improvements in our campus fiber paved the way for some exciting network improvements to take place this summer.

If you imagine our network as a series of information “highways,” this summer’s planned work will expand the highway lanes by a factor of ten. With new equipment and subsequent network improvements, our campus will benefit from a more modern network that is more reliable, more resilient, and designed with our future in mind. We plan to continue with additional network upgrades throughout the summer.
