"Using Technology to Build Connections"

Ideas for Virtual Poster Presentations

March 25, 11:00 am

When HES 351 couldn’t conduct their usual in-person poster fair, they moved it online, saving paper and ink while also providing students the opportunity to create an artifact for their digital portfolios.

Students learned not only how to design a poster and give an elevator pitch summary of their research, but also how to record a screen capture video of themselves presenting their work.

In this session, we’ll discuss how students can:

  • Create a poster in Spark and/or PowerPoint or other apps
  • Record a video of themselves narrating as they share their poster
  • Upload their videos to an online area, share the link with classmates, ask for feedback

We’ll also explore:

  • Ideas for synchronous online presentations, self-serve poster halls, and other apps

We’ll share resources you can edit and use for your courses, as well as tips, ideas, and lessons learned.
