#NoMouse Challenge

Participating in the global effort to spread web accessibility awareness to our campus community

#NoMouse is a global effort to spread web accessibility awareness. Wake Forest joined this challenge by encouraging all faculty, staff, and students to take 10 minutes out of their day during the week of February 15th to explore and test keyboard navigation of their most frequently accessed websites.

Digital accessibility strives to give all users, including those with disabilities, great access and experiences when using digital tools. Websites that support successful and equitable navigation using a keyboard have a major component of good web accessibility in place. Some highlights of the first annual challenge include:

  • 36 participants (faculty, students, and staff) submitted Challenge experiences via a survey.
  • 65 unique websites were evaluated for feature/function accessibility.
  • Many participants reported a new and increased awareness of web accessibility and its impacts on users.
  • Over 85% of participants asked to receive information about future technology accessibility events or endeavors on campus.
  • 9 Amazon gift card winners were selected in a drawing (prizes ranging from $5-$25)

We hope this will be the first of many annual #NoMouse Challenges at Wake Forest.
