1/3/2018 – Important information regarding the wireless network

Information Systems is making improvements in the configuration of our wireless network.

Beginning this week, users will see a new wireless network, WFUwireless-legacy, to be used for connecting older devices which support only the 2.4Ghz spectrum, such as Raspberry Pi and iPhone 4S and older. Most devices will continue to connect, without any changes, to WFUwireless and should enjoy improved performance. This change will provide an overall better wireless experience for all users.

What do I need to do/know?

  • The new wireless network, WFUwireless-legacy, will be visible in the list of wireless networks.
  • If you no longer see WFUwireless in your list of available networks, you should connect to WFUwireless-legacy.
  • Starting the week of January 1, 2.4Ghz devices will no longer be able to connect to WFUwireless.
  • Most users will not have to make any changes to their WFUwireless configuration.
