Beware of Scams around Stimulus Payments

Since the federal government announced the Stimulus Package, criminal efforts aimed at obtaining personal and financial information are rising.

 What you need to know:

  • Scammers are calling, texting, emailing, and using websites to try and obtain personal and financial information. Do not provide banking or personal information to anyone claiming it is needed to receive a stimulus payment.
  • Individuals eligible for relief do not need to make any up-front payments or pay fees to receive a stimulus payment.
  • There is no sign up needed to request relief. Individuals eligible for relief will be notified via mail.

You can visit the IRS Coronavirus webpage for further updates regarding stimulus payment checks.
